“A shared ministry of compassion, witness and service for the total well-being of the people of God.”

The Deacons of First Presbyterian Church take the lead in caring for individuals and families in our church going through all sorts of challenging life events, such as illness or bereavement, a new baby or finding oneself homebound, and more. We pray regularly for the needs of the church, make visits, deliver flowers, celebrate our seniors at the Diamond Jubilee event each spring, coordinate memorial service receptions, and send cards of empathy and encouragement. Our meals team uses TakeThemaMeal.com to coordinate schedules for a week or two of meals.

The office of deacon is first described in the Bible in Acts 6:1-6. First Pres nominates, votes for, and ordains a class of 6 Deacons every year; they serve a 3-year term of service.

If you know of a need in our church or community that you would like the Deacons to pray for or attend to, please leave a message on the Deacon phone line, send in an online prayer request, or contact the Associate Pastor for Congregational Care. We will get in touch with you if you so desire.
